Lauryn Adams Foundation

The Lauryn Adams Foundation was conceived to be a source of hope and success for disadvantaged High School students and their families. Here, we work with schools, churches, and communities to identify students with the potential and ambition to excel academically but lack the required resources. We visit various schools where we sponsor reading sessions and parties to encourage students to take school seriously. We use this opportunity to give scholarships to bright students that are active in their churches and community to further their education.

During summer holidays, we sponsor the Read to Achieve program within local churches, where we showcase the benefits of education in developing a rich, full and meaningful life. We also hold social events such as Thanksgiving Dinners and Christmas Holidays where we serve families experiencing hardships with meals and gifts.

Through all these initiatives, Lauryn Adams Foundation hopes to enable students to achieve their full potential while ensuring they retain a desire to help their community.

Lauryn Adams Biography

Lauryn Adams leaning on pillar

Lauryn Tamia Adams was born on April 23rd, 2002, to Lawrence Adams and Tammy Adams. As a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she played key pivotal roles in her community, school, friends, and family during her time on earth.

Lauryn attended Central High School and was a Class of 2020 Wildcat. From an early age, she loved school and was a gifted academic performer – as evidenced by her membership to Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society and the National Beta Club, as well as a scholar with the National Youth Leadership Forum in the field of engineering. She progressively excelled in her education year after year and remained passionate about continually learning and building on her knowledge.

While at school, she made friends and became a shoulder that these friends could lean on in times of distress. She regularly tutored and guided her friends through schoolwork because she strongly believed in the benefits of a good education. In addition, she also became an advocate for mental health and used her compassion to talk out other students from committing suicide. She hoped to inspire her fellow students to find healing and discover their potential.

Away from school, Lauryn was an active member of her local community, committed to touching a life in every endeavor she participated in. She worshipped at Oasis Christian Church in Baton Rouge, where she was also in the church choir. Moreover, she selflessly devoted her time and energy to several summer school programs. Most notable was the Read to Achieve program, where she tutored the younger generation in literature subjects.

At 17 years, on July 2nd, 2019, she passed on from an undetected blood clot that had traveled to her lungs. This untimely demise was and continues to be heartbreaking to everyone who knew her.
