Read 2 Achieve

Lauryn’s Read-2-Achieve Program is a summer literacy program designed for elementary school students.  The goal of this program is to stop the “summer slide” where children forget a lot of what they learned in the previous school year.  Read-2-Achieve pairs each student with a mentor, encourages students to read books over the summer, and engages them in fun learning activities.  Since the COVID-19 outbreak, the the program has been all digital.  Students were able to meet with their mentor through zoom online, email their book reports and log into IXL for learning activities.  The students are rewarded nicely at the end of the program with gift cards, book sacks, and school supplies.

Through the 6-week 2022 session, students practiced core skills 5 days a week for 1 hour each day on IXL.  The students answered over 2000 questions in Language Arts and over 1000 questions in Science.  They were awarded a custom Lauryn Adams Foundation Visa Gift Card.  Thank you Oasis Christian Church for continuing this effort for Lauryn’s legacy.
